"Rideable Pioh, Crash Fixes & Skill Corrections"
Ether Online — Patch Notes
New Rideable Pioh
Two more creatures can now be ridden. Equip one as your visible Pioh and press F7 to hop on.
Burning Struk — climb aboard the steam-mech
Spotted Gnoll
If a mount or rider looks off — sitting too high, too low, or off-center — just report which Pioh and we'll fix it.
Crashes
Fixes for the client closing without warning.
Fixed a crash when moving between maps. If a game archive could not be opened, the client would close instantly instead of reporting the problem.
Raised the client's open-file limit, which is what was running out during long sessions and causing the above.
Skills
Fixes to skill learning, the Skill Tree, and lost skill levels.
Fixed skill levels being lost with the skill points not coming back. A skill that a Pioh was standing in for could be reset to an older level, and any level you had bought above that was thrown away silently. This could repeat on every trainer visit.
A skill you cannot learn yet now tells you the required character level instead of the point silently not being spent.
Skill Tree tooltips listed the requirement and SP cost for the level you already owned rather than the one you were buying, so a skill could look available while the + button stayed dead. Tooltip and button now agree.
Skill Balance
A small buff for Soul Summoner support play.
Soul of Sacrifice — area of effect increased from 6m to 10m.
The wider area also means the heal falls off more gently with distance, so allies near the old edge of the circle now recover more than before.
Mounts — Combat
Mounting is now blocked while you are in combat.
You can no longer hop on a mount to escape a fight you just started.
"In combat" means you have dealt or taken a hit in the last few seconds — it clears on its own once the fighting stops.
If you are already riding when a fight starts, you keep your mount; you just cannot get back on after dismounting to attack.
Refused mounts now dismount you properly instead of leaving you stuck looking like you are riding — this also fixes PK offenders keeping the mount visual.
Mounts & Combat Pets
Fixes for pets that could not keep up with their owner, and for the rides that ended because of it.
Riding no longer throws you off when your pet falls behind — reported most often in Venusia.
Your pet can now follow you everywhere your character can go — narrow alleys, gateways and the area around the Venusia village ether gate were closed to larger pets entirely.
A pet that gets stuck or falls too far behind is now brought back to you automatically, instead of being left standing where it stopped.
Large pets no longer play their walking animation while moving at full speed.
Briefly losing sight of your mount no longer dismounts you.
Very large pets now step in slightly closer before they attack.
Quest & Skill Description Fixes
Two reported text issues are fixed in this update.
Knowledge base (Elder's Retreat quest) — the objective said "Go to Retta" but Paul is in Elder's Retreat. It now points to the right town, and step 2 reads "Deliver Advanced Semiotics to Paul".
Rush — the description never mentioned the buff the skill actually grants. It now lists "Applies Rush effect to yourself — Attack Speed +30%, lasts 5 seconds".
The same missing-buff text is fixed for every dash skill: Rush, Rush: Bind, Rush Smash, Flash Slash, Flash Cleave, and Charge of Justice.
Only the descriptions changed — the skills themselves already worked this way, so there is no balance change.
This is a server and client update — relaunch through the launcher to get the latest client.
