"Capture the Flag, Bigger Arena Rooms & Stealth Fix"
Ether Online — Patch Notes
Capture the Flag — New Arena Event
Two teams, one flag, and a maze between you and the enemy base. Clock Tower Square has been rebuilt as an arena with a maze layout, its own battle music, and approach routes rebalanced so neither base has a shorter run to the flag.
When and How to Get In
Every 4 hours, every day: 01:00, 05:00, 09:00, 13:00, 17:00 and 21:00 server time.
Sign-up opens 10 minutes before each match.
Open the Game Lobby. The event sits at the top of the room list as an EVENT row with its state and a countdown. Select it and press Join.
You sign up from anywhere in the world. Keep questing, farming or grinding — you are pulled into the arena when the match starts.
Level 30+, up to 50 players a side.
You Do Not Pick Your Team
Teams are drafted. The draft spreads classes and levels across Red and Blue so neither side is stacked, and the deal is randomised every match — there is no pattern to learn and no way to arrange who you land beside.
If sign-ups come out odd, the last player to register sits that one out and is told why. Even sides matter more than one extra body.
Everyone Fights at the Same Level
Every player in the match is raised to the highest level present — your character and your equipped Piohs both. This is temporary and never saved to your character. A level 30 and a level 60 walk in and fight on the same footing, so the event is worth entering the day you qualify.
How a Match Plays
The flag spawns at the centre of the plaza. Carry it to your own team's base to score. First to 3 captures wins, or the most captures when the 30-minute clock runs out.
Carrying it
The carrier is slowed to a walk. You are not getting home alone — the flag is won by the team around the carrier, not by the strongest player on the field.
Only death drops the flag. Stuns, freezes and knockdowns will not make you let go.
Dropped, it lies where it fell for 15 seconds before returning to the centre — long enough for a team-mate to continue the run.
After a capture there is a 5-second countdown before a new flag appears, so both teams can reset.
Dying, and your gear
A 5-second countdown, then you respawn at your team's start.
Dying in the arena costs durability, as it does anywhere else — and you will die often. The Repair Hammer now works inside the arena, so you can patch your set up between fights.
Kill streaks
Two kills without dying starts a streak, and every kill after that strengthens a buff, up to 4 tiers.
Go 60 seconds without a kill and it resets.
Killing the same player twice inside 30 seconds does not extend it — a streak is earned across the field, not by camping one victim.
Reach the third tier and the whole arena is told. End someone else's rampage and it hears about that too.
Watching
Not playing this one? Select the event row and press Watch to spectate as an invisible observer once the match is under way — nobody can see you, target you, or be affected by you.
WASD / arrows to fly, TAB to ride a combatant's shoulder, wheel to zoom. Leave Spectate puts you back where you were. You cannot switch to watching from inside the arena: if you are in the fight, you are in the fight.
Arena Points
A new currency, earned only here:
Win — 100
Loss — 30
Draw — 20
+10 to whoever carries a flag home
Losing still pays. A match going badly is still worth finishing, and a team that falls behind has no reason to walk out. You must be there at the final whistle to be paid. Leave early and that match pays you nothing.
The Arena Point Shop
Spend them at the Point Shop in Retta, under the Arena Point Shop tab. Your Arena Point balance sits at the top of the window beside your Online Points.
New there: the Arena Supply Cache. It is the arena's own version of Urd's Supply Cache and rolls from the same table — Ether and Enhancement Stones, holy waters, a Megaphone, a Repair Hammer, dungeon tickets, an Accelerator, a Goddess Statue, rarely a Gold Bar — but it pays out a Reinforced Protection Stone three times as often. Contents are bound to you.
The Game Arena Ranking
The Leader Board has a new Game Arena ranking with its own columns — Win, Loss, Draw and your win rate — filterable by class and searchable by name.
Ranked on win rate, tie-broken by matches played.
Leaving a match early counts as a loss. The ladder scores you whether you stayed or not.
A draw counts as a match played, but moves your win rate neither way.
3 matches on record before you appear.
Game Masters are excluded, as on every other ranking.
Sign up, take the middle, and walk it home.
Ranked Arena — Rooms Now Hold Up to 50
Arena rooms were capped at 10 players. That cap is now 50.
The Participants dropdown in Create a room now runs 2–50. It still opens on 10, so nothing changes unless you want it to. The room master can resize an existing room with Modify — you just can't shrink it below the people already inside.
Sides are still auto-balanced, so a 50-player room is 25 vs 25. Each side is capped at half the room, and a match won't start until both sides are even. Balanced stats still apply — everyone is revised to the top level in the match.
The player board shows 10 at a time, with page arrows next to Exit and Modify. Right-click still works on any page — player info, hand over master, and kick. READY status and the START button read the whole room, not just the page you're looking at.
Your side now spreads out across its spawn area instead of everyone stacking on a single tile.
Stealth Fix — Pets No Longer Give You Away
Fixed: Using Stealth while your pet was out did nothing to hide the pet. Monsters could still see it, chase it, and follow it around — which meant they were following you. Stealth was effectively useless with a pet summoned.
What Changed
Your pet is now hidden from monsters whenever you're in Stealth. Monsters can no longer target it, and any monster already chasing it will lose track of it.
Your pet now stands down while you're stealthed — it won't pick fights on its own and won't keep swinging at something and blow your cover.
Everything goes back to normal the moment Stealth ends (you attack, or the buff expires).
This also applies to summons, not just combat pets.
Server-side fix — no client patch needed.
Camera View — Now on a Hotkey
Free view and Quarter view now swap instantly with a single key.
Default key is F8 — a fresh key, so nothing you already use has moved.
Switches instantly, no restart and no reload.
Your choice is remembered per character and sticks after you log out.
The old menu button still works exactly as before.
Rebind it under System Options > Set User Keys > Change Camera View. Already using F8? Your binding wins — Change Camera View simply starts unbound.
New Rideable Piohs
Equip one as your visible Pioh and press F7 to hop on.
Wandering Wraith
Bound Evil Spirit
Red-Mane Battle Wolf
Spotted Squad Leader
Black Claw Slave Gnoll
Lesser Spotted Gnoll
If a mount or rider looks off — sitting too high, too low, or off-center — report which Pioh and we'll fix it.
Quest Guide Arrow Can Now Be Turned Off
New option — Quest window > gear button > Quest Options > "Quest guide arrow" ON / OFF
Ships ON, exactly as it works today, and your choice is saved between logins.
Turns off the ground arrow and the marker on your objective.
Minimap pin, quest tracker and quest list checkboxes are unaffected — tracking still works.
The existing Navigation option is unchanged; it controls the tracker, this one controls the arrow.
