“Gear Box Drop Rates, Black Dragon Gear Restored & Knight Provoke Changes”
Ether Online — Patch Notes
Gear Box Drop Rates
Some of you have noticed that Advanced and Rare gear boxes drop less often than before. That is correct, and we owe you an apology for not saying so sooner. This change was meant to be in our previous patch notes. Between a busy schedule and the attacks on our servers over the past few days, it was left out by mistake. We’re sorry for the confusion that caused.
What Changed
Bosses (Normal / Hard): Advanced boxes no longer drop on every kill
Elites (Lv 10-57, Normal / Hard): Advanced boxes no longer drop on every kill, and Hard elites no longer drop two
Rare boxes: now drop less often
Master bosses: unchanged, still the only source of Abyssal boxes
Why We Made This Change
This decision was not made because of a few suggestions. It comes from our own observation of the current market. Before this change, most bosses dropped an Advanced box every single time, and Hard elites often dropped two. A box that drops on every kill isn’t a reward any more, it’s routine. The result was too many boxes entering the game:
Box and gear prices on the auction house kept falling, so the gear you earned was worth less every week
Players were getting fully geared too quickly, with nothing left to work toward
New players arriving later would find the market flooded and the gear they earn worth almost nothing
Why This Is Good for the Game
The gear you already own holds its value
Getting a box feels like a real reward again
Trading stays worthwhile for both buyers and sellers
Progression lasts longer, so there’s always a next goal
The economy stays healthy for new players as well as current ones
We did not do this to make the game harder or to slow you down. We did it for the future of Ether Online, so it stays rewarding over the long run instead of burning out in a few months. Boxes still drop regularly, they just aren’t guaranteed any more.
We’ll keep watching box and gear prices closely, and if the market shows we went too far, we’ll adjust. Thank you for your patience and for playing Ether Online.
Black Dragon Gear Restored
The crafted purple (A-grade) Black Dragon gear from Heimdall had been accidentally weakened by an earlier rebalance. It now has its full stats again and is stronger than the best Hero King roll for the same slot.
Weapons — Fang Dagger, Bone-Toll Sword, Horn Shard Wand, Steel Tail Two-Handed Sword, Earth Claw Bow, Amber Eye Staff
Dragon Slayer’s Plate, Dragon Hunter’s Leather and Dragon Lord’s Silk sets
Already-crafted gear updates automatically — no re-crafting needed
Knight — Provoke Changes
Provoke holds — a big hit from another player no longer pulls a provoked monster off the Knight while Provoke is active
Threat — Provoke puts the Knight at the top of threat, so they usually keep the monster afterwards (a player who keeps out-damaging them can still pull it)
Two Knights — the monster goes to whoever provoked last
PvP — Provoke now silences enemy players for 2 seconds (no magic skills or Provoke)
A silenced Knight can’t use Provoke, and getting silenced mid-cast cancels it
Description now shows what it actually does
Mage Combo Fixes
Lightning Strike now stuns a target with Electric Shock for 1 second
Still deals +20% damage per Electric Shock stack and still consumes the stacks
Target frame now shows debuff stacks of 2+ (e.g. Electric Shock x3)
Pet Fixes
Auto-attack unticked — your pet no longer fights at all and just follows you
Party and guild pets no longer block your attacks or get selected when you click a monster behind them
Still getting blocked? Tell us if it was melee, arrows, skills or clicking.
New Mounts (F7)
Eight more Pioh are rideable, three with a new cross-legged pose:
Blood Axe Shaman, Blood Axe Bloodfighter, Tangy Grumber, Halogen Electroshocker
Wicked Saborin — sit on its head and move with it
Burrow Spider, Giant Wolf Spider, Peritle — cross-legged pose
Rider sitting too high, low or off-center? Report which Pioh.
Holy Water at Potion Merchants
All six Holy Waters are now sold by Marietta, Nash (Retta), Eressa (Herbat), Linda (Pascal’s Camp) and Restin (Elder’s Retreat).
Discolored Lv 1 — 500 Gold
Clear Lv 10 — 1,000 Gold
Refreshing Lv 20 — 2,000 Gold
Fragrant Lv 30 — 3,000 Gold
Mystical Lv 40 — 4,000 Gold
Shining Lv 50 — 5,000 Gold
Shining Holy Water (incl. Bound) now requires Lv 50, up from 40. Some shops now have a second page — use the arrows at the bottom.
Dungeon Ticket Exchange
Every Potion Merchant has a new “Exchange Dungeon Tickets” option.
5 Hard Dungeon Tickets + 50 Ether Stone + 5,000 Gold → 1 Master Dungeon Ticket
Bound tickets exchange into a Bound Master ticket at the same cost
Ether Stone [Bound] counts and is used first
Crafting window now shows Gold cost (red if you can’t afford it), and “Make All” accounts for Gold
Tickets must be in your bag, not your warehouse
Skill Lock Fix
Skills bound to Shift/Alt+number no longer lock the skill bar if you release Shift/Alt before the number
Potions bound to Alt+number no longer stop your skills from working afterward
No more clicking a skill icon to unlock your other skills
Mouse Side Buttons in Key Bindings
Mouse 4 and 5 can be bound to any action — great for Ride Mount
Work with SHIFT, CTRL and ALT (e.g. CTRL+MOUSE4)
Set them in System Options → Set User Keys: click the action, then press the side button
Red Skill Warnings Disabled
Red ground markers for monster area skills are turned off for now. The skills themselves are unchanged — only the marker is gone.
This update includes client and server changes — relaunch through the launcher to get the latest version.
